Live Daily Review for Indian Wells California, March 16, 2008.
This is California right? Someone please tell the weather man that 45 degrees is not ideal tennis conditions! The unsettled conditions clearly did nothing for Americas top hopeful Andy Roddick, as he was bounced in the 1st round by Tommy Haas. Not the result Roddick was looking for, as he was looking to really make a push to get back in the mix with the big boys. His early exit in the desert has taken him back to pretender status. As I predicted Mario Ancic is having a great tournament. I was pleased with the way he competed today against Gonzalez and how Ancic stayed positive throughout the match. Gonzalez, clearly has other plans on his mind other than winning tennis matches. The Nalbandian/Gublis match was another great battle on show court 3 . David pulled out the match 7-6 in the third set, but not before he encountered a lot of resistance with Gulbis serving for the match at 5-3 in the third. Look for Nalbandian to continue his fine form in the event. Roger Federer played a great match to win against Lopez. Providing some spectacular down the line backhands, as only Roger can. He played really well, and it looked like his foot work was back to normal. Monday should provide many great moments as well, as Nadal, Djokovic and Blake all see action on center court. Our team is enjoying our stay at Indian Wells and covering the event live for our great fans. As usual, the grounds are great, food is great, especially the Mexican food, and the side court action always provides great seating. Check back tomorrow for more updates, pics and videos.

Looks like weather is making it tough but that makes for interesting results right?? If you think that is cold you should try Hamburg in May! (Probably one of the reasons it is being dropped off the Master’s calendar this year, a shame as the tennis was always very good)
Good for Tommy he continued his run over Andy, hoping he gets a couple more matches in here and then in Miami.Just enough to get the shoulder warm without overloading! I would like to see him play DC in April against Spain.Kiwi ditto and Kohli against Rafa will be interesting-2 big defenders!
Pleased Fed has found a bit of form and it would be good if he showed a bit of that dazzle again. We want to see good tennis, right? Hoping Nalbandian keeps improving and Djoko and Murray are in the mix too! Tsonga back to normal in Miami?
Enjoy the fun.
